The Korea Automobile Research Institute has called for a quality certification system to boost South Korea’s used car exports, which have seen a decline in units but an increase in value. The global used car trade has grown by 88.9% over 12 years, driven by the economic growth of emerging countries. The institute suggested benchmarking Japan and China, which have quality certification systems, and also proposed establishing an export complex that handles the entire process including shipping and quality certification.
