Kakao Entertainment has been fined 390 million won by the Fair Trade Commission for deceptive advertising practices. The company is accused of advertising its own music on social networking service channels and online communities as if it were general consumer recommendations. From October 2016 to February 2020, Kakao Entertainment posted 2,353 promotional posts on 15 channels and conducted 427 advertisements, paying 860 million won to advertising agencies, without disclosing they were commercial advertisements.
