Daesang has been selected as the lead research and development institution for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ project on ‘Sustainable High-Quality Seaweed Seed Production and On-Land Aquaculture Technology Development.’ The project aims to commercialize a system for year-round, large-scale seaweed production, with a goal to complete a fourth industrial revolution-style seaweed on-land aquaculture system by 2029. Daesang formed a consortium with local governments, universities, and companies, and plans to develop technology and a commercialization system by 2029, with commercialization of seaweed harvested from on-land aquaculture starting around 2030.
