The Chinese government recently gathered European semiconductor supply chain companies to discuss its rare earth export control policy, potentially leading to eased export controls for these companies. The ‘China-Europe Semiconductor Upstream and Downstream Companies Symposium’ was attended by the China Semiconductor Association, the China-Europe Chamber of Commerce, and about 40 companies from the semiconductor supply chains of China and Europe. This comes after China announced export controls on seven types of rare earths globally, essential raw materials used in advanced technology sectors and green industries, in response to the United States imposing a 34% reciprocal tariff on Chinese products.
