Samyang Foods, known for its spicy chicken ramen series, has seen a steep rise in its stock price, entering the top 50 in market capitalization. The company’s first-quarter sales increased by 37% year-on-year to 529 billion won ($470 million), with operating profit surging by 67% to 134 billion won. The increase in sales is attributed to foreign exchange gains from the recent rise in the won-dollar exchange rate and enhanced profitability through a domestic production system, with overseas sales accounting for more than 80% of total sales.
