LG Electronics has begun construction of its third home appliance factory in Sricity, southeastern Andhra Pradesh, India, with an investment of $600 million. The factory will cover a site of 1 million square meters and aims to produce 800,000 refrigerators and 850,000 washing machines annually, starting with air conditioners by the end of next year. The new factory is part of LG’s strategy to meet the growing local demand for home appliances in India and to target the Middle East and South Asia markets.
